Optimising Water Management in Drylands to Increase Crop Productivity and Anticipate Climate Change in Indonesia

چکیده
In the future, Indonesia will become increasingly dependent on dryland agriculture. New adaptive technology innovations able to transform drylands into arable land throughout almost entire year have been developed anticipate global climate change in tropical areas. This article reviews results of research importance and water management increase crop index productivity Indonesia. We found that irrigation treatment at 80% FAO-recommended rate resulted highest maize stover yield (around 13.65–14.10 t h−1). Irrigation 60% for soybeans (at 0.24 L s−1 h−1) produced good-quality soybean seeds. The use existing resources can planted area from 1.25 1.67 cropping during second planting season same area. Crop productivity and adaptation to climate change in Pakistan
How effective adaptation practices in response to climate change are is a crucial question confronting farmers across the world. Using detailed plot-level data from a specifically designed survey conducted in 2013, this paper investigates whether there are productive benefits for farmers who adapt to climate change in Pakistan. The impact of implementing on-farm adaptation strategies is estimat...
متن کاملClimate change impacts on crop yield, crop water productivity and food security – A review
This paper provides a comprehensive review of literature related to the assessment of climate change impacts on crop productivity using climate, water and crop yield models. The existing studies present that climate change models with higher spatial resolution can be a way forward for future climate projections. Meanwhile, stochastic projections of more than one climate model are necessary for ...
متن کاملUpdate on Climate Change and Global Crop Productivity The Influence of Climate Change on Global Crop Productivity
Climate trends over the past few decades have been fairly rapid in many agricultural regions around the world, and increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2) and ozone (O3) levels have also been ubiquitous. The virtual certainty that climate and CO2 will continue to trend in the future raises many questions related to food security, one of which is whether the aggregate productivity of globa...
متن کاملEffect of Integrated Water-Nutrient Management Strategies on Soil Erosion Mediated Nutrient Loss and Crop Productivity in Cabo Verde Drylands
Soil erosion, runoff and related nutrient losses are a big risk for soil fertility in Cabo Verde drylands. In 2012, field trials were conducted in two agro-ecological zones to evaluate the effects of selected techniques of soil-water management combined with organic amendments (T1: compost/manure + soil surfactant; T2: compost/animal or green manure + pigeon-pea hedges + soil surfactant; T3: co...
